Village & Population Overview:

Porchim Chandshir Kapon village is rooted like many after 1315AD When Hazrat Shah Hazrat Shahjalal, migrated from Syria and set his roots in greater Sylhet. From the followers of his 360+ followers known for his faith was Shah Chand after who the name of the village is kept. His memory lives on through the generations living in the village which is split over two sides between the Jagonathpur Road. Poschim Chandshir Kapon being the biggest.

The modern day village has a Muslim population and a mixture of poor and well off households. A major portion of the income is provided ex-pats in the UK/Europe/America & Middle East, alongside income from local business families including those living in main Sylhet city, the capital Dhaka and dwindling number of farmers.

In our (BRPHI) most recent survey in 2020 there approximately 500+ current residents make up the village of greater Poschim Chandshir Kapon.

Clinic & Director Information:

This clinic was started by Ruqaya Begum and family (UK) and dedicated to her late father, uncle, grandparents, the deceased & the living from the village as Benevolence (Sadaqah Jaariya) charity. It is located on the main Jagonathpur Road and is in their own village & family land, with the ambition to provide free health care for the poor and quality health care for extended family, friends and neighbours in the village and due to its strategic location it seeks to be of service to 2 other neighbouring villages targeting to prioritise the needy & desperate with a ambition to serve overall 650-800+ people.

It also seeks to determine the health status of the villagers, identifying chronic disease, preventing these diseases from developing and therefore keeping the villagers healthy and preventing complications from such diseases.
