Ashraf Zaman

Executive Director

Background

I am a pharmacist prescriber working and living in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. I graduated in 2006 from the School of Pharmacy, University of London and then went on to qualify as a pharmacist in 2007. I have undertaken post graduate studies in independent prescribing and pharmacy practice at University of Hertfordshire and Keele University.

I have worked in a variety of pharmacy sectors including community pharmacies and hospitals. I am currently working at an NHS General Practice. I have spent several years in senior management and leadership positions for well established pharmacies in London, in addition to serving as a superintendent pharmacist. In 2016, I worked as a pharmaceutical consultant for an Egyptian pharmaceutical company whilst living in Egypt. The opportunity to work in a foreign country as an advisor to the CEO gave me unique insight on how the pharmaceutical industry operates at an international level.

I have a keen interest in Education and Training and have delivered dozens of workshops for healthcare professionals, patients and other community stake holders. I have personally tutored junior pharmacists and students from both medical and pharmacy schools. I am currently working as a part time coach and mentor for newly qualified pharmacists for the local NHS.

I have a deep interest in supporting the development of the health sector in Bangladesh, thus ensuring equitable access to health services for the poor and the destitute. I joined the Bangladesh Rural Primary Healthcare Initiative (BRPHI) towards the end of 2020. I hope to be able to play a significant role in helping achieve the goals and objectives of the BRPHI.
